History and the Arts

One thing that people will not look at and fail to realize is how closely related the different forms of art will relate to history. Looking at different periods and all of the different areas of the fine arts one will see how there is a cross between what happens in history and what you will see happening in the arts. Whether it be in paintings, music, fashion or film you will discover that there is a lot of correlation between the two.

Consider the music from the 60’s during Vietnam in the United States and how much of it was related to peace and not fighting. Look at how music reflects what is happening everywhere during that time period and how it is representative of the attitude and the struggles that were being faced during those times. It is just one of the many different ways the two come across.

If you are looking at the history of film you will see how the different movies of the time tend to reflect what is going on in the world. From Charlie Chaplin mocking Hitler, to current movies about the war in Iraq. You will discover all across time how the films that are used as a way to escape reality are really a reflection on what is going on in reality.

Look at the paintings that are done from the various time periods and you will see that there are many reflections of the victories and struggles of the times. You will also see how the styles have changed over time and reflect what is really happening and the attitudes that were dominant and prevalent for the period.

Fashion is a constantly changing form of art. However you will notice how clothes change as the times change. From things that are risky and popular to more conservative outfits depending on the time and what was happening in the world. No matter what was going on or what people see their clothes will reflect the economy of the time as well as the attitude and level of acceptance being shown.
