Why Art Matters

Many people view art is not an important tool for communication but something that is useful only for its aesthetic benefits. This is often a very clouded view. Art offers much more than it may seem to offer, especially when you look at the full scope of what art is. In many ways, art has been something people have been exploring, creating and doing for thousands of years. Throughout that time, the benefits have been far more than just a method for creating beauty.

Art is able to communicate the thoughts and feelings of the creator similar to what happens when a person expresses himself in words. Art is another methods of communication. If you look back at art over the history of the world, you may notice a large number of times when art has been useful not only to learn about the people of that time but also to understand how those people felt and how they experienced life during that time. This is just one way that art has shown its importance.

Another way that this is the case, is when you consider how art influences people today. It allows people to communicate a message. That message may be political, sentimental, inspirational or religious. It could be something simple that depicts what world views are today or it could be a very powerful piece that provides an indication of what is happening in the world right now.

In all cases, art is important. It is meaningful and provides a resource to all of those who create and use it. It does add beauty but in many ways it can add much more than that to our daily lives and to the future.
